Cause for Praise

We’ll spend most of this week sitting with one verse, Psalm 139.14:

I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works.

Our making is cause for praise. The intricate pride of detail with which God has shaped us is a wonder to behold. God’s work in each of us is specific to us. And that is cause for praise. While we share the same humanity, each of us is uniquely human. That is cause for praise. We have no reason to be ashamed of who we are, what we feel, or the path each of us follows. What makes us different is why we are precious and indispensible to God. God crafts each of us to reflect God in a certain ways as only we can. Each of us has meaning. Each of us has a place in God’s world. Each of us serves a purpose that no one else can fill. This is a truth we cannot deny. And we praise God for such love and care to afford us the privilege of a life unlike any other. We don't lament or reject our uniqueness—including the struggles that derive from honoring and protecting it. Our making is cause for praise.
