But the tenor of your comments jibes with previously hearing many of them can become very doctrinaire very quickly. So I understand your trepidation.

I also agree with your comments about fellowship with an embracing church and believers. There is strength in that which many of us deprive ourselves us. Many times I've had to drag myself to service, feeling completely wiped out and not ready to enter into worship. And every time that's happened, I've left feeling refreshed and rested--and convicted for trying to keep myself from getting to what I needed most.

Thanks for your comments. They always enrich our conversations here!

Blessings and rest,
TimTimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01271248501086241494noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2722447614945782871.post-48058028811701745462010-03-21T10:30:35.978-05:002010-03-21T10:30:35.978-05:00I've been through an Old Covenant Sabbath Keep...I've been through an Old Covenant Sabbath Keeping experience and have no desire to return to that - so I started reading your post with some trepidation.

But I'd say you nailed it! There is a sweetness to resting in God's presence. Reflecting. Refreshing.

I find that in the New Covenant, this kind of rest comes especially from the shared joy and enthusiasm of fellow believers/Christ-lovers. I think this relates to Paul's reminder to not forsake gathering together. This has often been twisted into a manipulative message of "Thou shalt not skip church attendance!" - but that's not what he says. I've found that there is a spiritual rest and feeling of being at home that comes from hangin' out and enjoying the presence of Jesus within my fellow Christians, usually at one another's homes or where-ever - and it doesn't require any formal church "service." But it often happens when I am gathered with church in service to others!

Thanks for the good words!grantnoreply@blogger.com
